On 28th June 2001 I finished writing the lyrics for He Sold His Soul To The Devil.
(I didn’t sell my soul)
The way this song came to me was when I was in the shower. Words floated through the roof then into the back of my head.
I jumped out of the shower and wrote down what was revealed to me.
It was about a man who sold his soul to the devil for a record contract. It was as if the person who was in hell wanted other people to know what happened to him.
----------------
It took me a few days to make the story rhyme.
I wrote the song down but at that time I had no computer or software to create the music.
It was around 2003 or 2004 when I put the words and music together.
It’s now the 21st anniversary on 28th June that He Sold His Soul To The Devil was written.
It has been heard by thousands of people and has helped a number of people consider if they want to be in the music industry.
You can listen to the two versions of this song (original and remix) on a number of streaming sites including spotify and bandcamp.
These are the lyrics for the remix version. This version has added ancient text which the original version doesn’t have.
He Sold His Soul To The Devil (Remix) Lyrics
Oh no, what did he do wrong
He sold his soul to the devil for a number one song
At night he was drugged up crazy and tormented
Terrified of flying things when he hallucinated
In the day he was treated like a hero
His fans wouldn’t know what he was going through though
Signing autographs sharing laughs he looked happy
But he wishes he never sold his soul for fame and money
He sold his soul to the devil
For money and fame
He had top ten hits
Now he’s in the grave
He sold his soul to the devil
For money and fame
Now he’s in hell
Burning and screaming in pain
When he was on tour he was losing weight and getting thinner
He looked like a freak, his eye balls were getting bigger
And every night was the same old thing
He was full of fright but didn’t stop drug taking
He screamed out “God help me I can’t take this no more”
Then God whispered “I’m here what do you need me for?”
He said “God help me I can’t take no more of this”
God said “I’m here the choice is yours, you can get out of this mess.”
He sold his soul to the devil
For money and fame
He had top ten hits
Now he’s in the grave
He sold his soul to the devil
For money and fame
Now he’s in hell Burning and screaming in pain
Next day he woke up and thought about what God had said
He wanted there to be no more pain in his head
Then he thought about the fame and money he loved it more than peace
He was given a chance but he chose drugs and now he’s deceased
Now he’s dead he realizes fame is useless
Now he’s dead he realizes money and fame caused all this mess
He’s screaming out he’s got something to let you know
If you get the chance choose peace of mind and let fame go!
Let it go
He sold his soul to the devil
For money and fame
He had top ten hits
Now he’s in the grave
He sold his soul to the devil
For money and fame
Now he’s in hell
Burning and screaming in pain
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Burning and burning and screaming in pain
Burning and burning and screaming in pain
Burning and burning and screaming in pain
He’s got his own self to blame
